General Packing List |
You don't need us to tell you to pack socks and a toothbrush. But here are a few suggestions that have proven themselves to us over the years.
- Sun screen
- Sunglasses
- Swim suit (even if you don't think you'll want it, bringing it lets you change your mind)
- Camera and film
- Paper and pens
- Rain coat or poncho
- Umbrella
- Picnic supplies (paper plates/cups, napkins, plastic flatware)
- Watch
- Flashlight and batteries
- Road maps or atlas
- Local maps
- Guide books, information on area
- Travel alarm clock
- Comfortable travel shoes (who cares how they look, you can always change when you arrive)
- Cooler for pop and snacks
- Small bottle of Woolite (handy for a quick wash in the sink - we've even washed dishes in it)
- Laundry bag
- Tissues
- Moist towelettes
- Prescription medications (in their original labeled bottles)
- Prescription glasses or contacts
- Phone number of your doctor and/or pharmacy (if you lost your medications, you can get a refill phoned to a local pharmacy)
- Phone numbers (emergency numbers, as well as friends)
- Insurance cards (medical and auto)
- Addresses for postcards (if you write these in advance on peel-off labels, you won't spend your vacation time addressing cards)
- Postage for postcards
- Spare car keys
- Tire inflator
